Kristen Van Haeren (BArch, MSc) is a PhD candidate atthe University of Copenhagen within the Landscape Architecture and Planningdepartment. She takes part in the research project Reconfiguring WelfareLandscapes, which investigates the green open spaces of the post-war Danishsocial housing estates. Kristen explores "green" and the variousmaterial and immaterial aspects, interpretations and ideals embedded in theterm over time. Her research investigates modes of thick description andphotographic sequencing as a means of discovering alternative ways of readingand understanding landscapes. Kristen is educated as an architect and haspracticed in offices in both Canada and Europe.
